Shakeology Review

I received a free sample of this product in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've heard great things about Shakeology, so I was super excited when a Shakeology representative contacted me about doing a review for my blog. Since I was only receiving one sample to review, I had a choice between vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry-flavored mix. I chose strawberry because everything strawberry flavored tastes good, right?!

For those who may not be familiar with the company, you can visit their website here. Basically, Shakeology is a nutritional meal-replacement shake you drink once per day in place of a meal (usually breakfast or lunch). According to the website, it has been clinically proven to reduce cravings and help users lose weight. It has more than 70+ good-for-you ingredients, including a healthy dose of whey protein. It is sweetened with Stevia as opposed to Aspartame--I was so happy when I found this out!

I wanted to get the most out of my single pouch of strawberry Shakeology, so I made one half a glass of a strawberry shake for my first taste. I blended a cup of ice, 1/2 cup of almond milk, and 1/2 a pouch of my Shakeology sample in a blender until smooth. The smell? Amazing. I was hoping it was taste like it smelled!

The taste? No bueno. It was really bland. I actually couldn't drink the last few sips.

But let's talk about the energy... I had my first sample on a Saturday afternoon and within an hour, I was buzzing around my house getting things done. Although the taste wasn't great, I felt full and satisfied until close to dinnertime that night. I actually wasn't even all that hungry by the time we made supper. I even had energy to hit the gym afterwards!

For my second shake, I sliced four fresh strawberries and threw them into the blender with almond milk, Shakeology of course, ice, and one packet of raw sugar. This shake was significantly better than the first! I think adding a little bit of sweetener did the trick! I still wouldn't call the taste great, but it was better.

Again, I felt full for several hours and had plenty of energy to run around and do things I needed to do. If given the chance to try Shakeology again, I would definitely want to give the chocolate and vanilla flavors a try!

As for weight loss, I can't say anything about that aspect of this product. Since I only had one packet, I was mainly sampling the taste and energy it provided. But I can definitely see how it would be useful in a weight loss routine; it's a 150 calorie or less meal-replacement shake that leaves you feeling full and energized for hours. I'll be honest; it's not the weight loss method for me, but if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, give Shakeology a try!

  1. I've wanted to try Shakeology for a while now. I've seen people using it all over the internet. My worry with meal replacements is always the taste. But sometimes you've just got to suck it up I guess. I'm still debating on whether or not to try it. Maybe after my hectic life settles down a bit.

  2. I've always wanted to try Shakeology. I've heard lots of opinions on it and I always thought it would taste decent. It's good to know that you thought it was bland. I looks like this meal replacement just helps with energy and keeping you fuller, longer. I'm still debating on if I'll try it.

Thanks for sharing your review, Kate! :)
